Singer Scatters 6 Hits Goes the Distance For Mounties Win

Jon Singer got the start tonight for Mt. Carmel, and he did it all for the Mounties tonight in our 6-1 win over the JP Mascaro Haulers, giving the Mounties the season series. Singer went the distance and got the win, while scattering 6 JP Mascaro hits, striking out 4 and allowing only one base on balls. Singer gave the Haulers their only run of the night in the second inning, then settled in and only allowed 3 hits the rest of the way.

With the game close at 2-1 in the home 5th, Singer took matters, offensively into his own hands. Leading off the inning with a scalding single to center, he stole second then moved to third on a base hit by shortstop Steve Longo. Singer then scored on a wild pitch and the Mounties never looked back. Catcher Brad Krenicky walked and then first baseman John Pecharo stepped up and plated Longo and Krenicky with a base hit, putting Mt. Carmel on top 5-1.

The Mounties added some insurance in the home 6th when Kyle Williams doubled, moved to third on Singer’s fielder’s choice and then scored on Danny Green’s ground ball out.

Singer walked out for the top of the 7th inning and needed just 10 pitches to close the door on the Haulers, and earn his 3rd victory of the year.

Mt. Carmel is back in action Saturday June 24th at 9AM against the Perkiomen Valley Raiders at the Villanova Ballpark at Plymouth.
